Representation Through Humiliation

President Bush named federal appeals judge John G. Roberts Jr. to fill the first Supreme Court vacancy in a decade [on July 19], delighting Republicans and unsettling Democrats by picking a young jurist of impeccably conservative credentials.
July 19... Hmmm, wasn't that just a few days after Rove was outed as the source of the Valerie Plame leak? Was the White House trying to get the country's minds off of that scandal by making the SCOTUS nomination a full week earlier than expected? Or is it just some crazy coincidence, as most things in Washington are... Iran/Contra, various illegal covert wars, Watergate... All coincidence.
